Britney Spears Offered $10 Million To Join ‘X Factor’

<P>Simon Cowell has hinted that he wants to reload the judges panel on "X Factor" with two new women and according to reports, he's close to landing a superstar who might make the second season of his talent contest much more interesting. </P><P> </P><P>While names including Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey have been bandied about as possible replacements for <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul,</a> the buzz has continued to focus on <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>. After a few rough professional and personal years, Aguilera has gone a long way toward reclaiming her A-list status thanks to the success of her performance on "The Voice." </P><P> </P><P>Cowell reportedly reached out personally to Spears to get the conversation rolling and he's been talking her up lately, saying in that same conference call, "are we flattered there would be interest from Britney Spears? Yes." In a later interview, he said he was "fascinated" with Spears and praised her resilience after a rough period during which she endured some very public personal struggles. </P><P> </P><P>Jackson's name was in the hopper until recently, when she revealed that, while flattered by the offer, the TV gig just would not jibe with the <a href="/news/articles/1680297/x-factor-janet-jackson.jhtml">professional commitments</a> already on her calendar this year.</p>

It's been two years since 'Cris dropped his last album, <i>Battle of the Sexes,</i> and the Atlanta MC estimates that his next one will hit stores this spring. </P><P> </P><P>"I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I'd say we're maybe about 40 percent done," the rapper told <a href="http://www.billboard.com/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story#/column/the-juice/ludacris-eyes-spring-ludaversal-release-1005831952.story" target="_blank"><i>Billboard</i></a> of his upcoming eighth LP, <i>Ludaversal,</i> which he anticipates will be out around May with a first single dropping in March. </P><P> </P><P>Luda, who dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1674369/ludacris-1.21-gigawatts-mixtape.jhtml"><i>1.21 Gigawatts</i> mixtape</a> in November, also revealed one big-time guest on the LP. For <i>Ludaversal,</i> he will get a little personal. </P><P> </P><P>"It's been a minute since I've been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about," he said. Rihanna had been romantically linked to Ashton Kutcher last week, when a report surfaced that she had headed over to the actor’s house late one night and stayed there for several hours.
At a London press conference for “Battleship,” a reporter used her one question with the pop star to ask about the alleged rendezvous. After meandering around about Ri’s fans and their love for her, she eventually got to her point: Would she get any visits from Kutcher while out promoting the film?
The singer’s response? Well, she wasn’t amused. “Wow, how disappointing was that question,” she said in a video posted on the <i<Metro website. “I’m happy and I’m single, if that’s what you’re really asking.”
While in London, the singer took some time to visit her pal Drake, who was in town performing at the O2 arena earlier this week. The singer was spotted riding the Tube to the show on Tuesday night. Wearing her hair blond and shaggy, she was decked out in thigh-high boots, a leather jacket and a flame-embossed T-shirt over barely there denim shorts. The only way she disguised herself was with a pair of sunglasses.
“There’s so much traffic. It’s approximately an hour and a half to the O2 every time. … I hate waking up early and I’m always late, so the tube is like 10 minutes,” she told interviewer Jonathan Ross recently about her love for public transportation. Post-show she and Drake headed to Low nightclub to hang out with pals.
Ri is currently out promoting the May release of “Battleship,” but she recently shot a trio of music videos. Fans should keep a lookout for her clip with Drake for “Take Care,” as well as videos for her collabo with Coldplay on “Princess of China” and her own video for “Where Have You Been.”

Conrad Murray Sentence ‘Not Enough,’ MJ Fans Say

<P><b>LOS ANGELES</b> — During the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, <a href="/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a>'s fans have been as much a fixture at the courthouse as the <a href="/news/articles/1675068/conrad-murray-sentencing.jhtml">Jackson family</a>. When <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">Murray was sentenced to four years</a> in jail Tuesday (November 29), MTV News spoke with those loyal fans outside the court to see if the maximum sentence was an apt punishment. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="MIchael Jackson Fans React To Conrad Murray Sentence" id="vid:715142.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"Four years — not enough, but at least something," said one fan, sporting a red jacket in tribute to MJ. "And where I come from, a little something is always better than nothing." </P><P> </P><P>One pair of friends might have been wearing matching <i>Thriller</i> T-shirts, but their opinions on Murray's sentence certainly didn't match. "If four years is the maximum and he got the maximum — I know she's not happy, but I'm happy," one of the women said, gesturing to her less-than-pleased companion. "I feel like justice was served and that L.A. can now be proud and stand tall." </P><P> </P><P>"It's better than nothing, but it's not even close to justice," said another fan, wearing Jackson's trademark fedora and sequined glove. "Not only was [Murray] negligent; he let the man die. It's unconscionable. He didn't even try. How would a heart doctor not know how to give CPR? It's insane." </P><P> </P><P>The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, was facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon, but due to recent changes to alleviate overcrowding in California prisons, the judge in the case said he was unable to send the doctor to state prison for his crime. On top of that, <a href="/news/articles/1675080/conrad-murray-sentence-four-years-experts.jhtml">legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News</a> that Murray will likely serve less than half of his four-year sentence. </P><P> </P><P>Those legal loopholes concerned a female fan outside the courthouse, but she was also happy that the maximum punishment was doled out. </P><P> </P><P>"The only thing I'm worried about now, with the overcrowding of the jails, he might get one year and house arrest," she told MTV News. "I'm just hoping it'll be four years, that's what I'm praying. I'm just glad that justice has been served today, and I'm glad justice can be served to the family and to the fans, and everybody around today will be happy and celebrate that justice has been served. And I'm sure Michael's looking from heaven right now."</p>

‘Mad Men’ Season-Five Premiere: 10 Lingering Mysteries

The “Mad Men” season five premiere has come and gone, leaving us with several burning questions answered and one heck of a catchy tune to hum all week long.
But not every question was answered — two seasons later and we still don’t know the whereabouts of Sal Romano, for one, not to mention all of the confounding baby drama circulating throughout the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce offices. Those are just some of the “Mad Men” mysteries still lingering after the season five premiere. Here are 10 more.
10. You do know Dick: So, Megan is in on Don’s big secret — some of it, at least. We know she knows his real name is Dick Whitman, and clearly she knows he has some deep-seated insecurity issues. Beyond that, what else does she know? Did Don tell her he witnessed the real Draper’s explosive death firsthand? Did he tell her about switching the dog tags while Real Don’s corpse was still warm? We’re definitely curious to know more.
9. Pete’s secret: Megan isn’t the only one in the know on Drapergate. Don’s former-rival-turned-reluctant-ally Pete Campbell is also in on the secret, having known Draper’s true identity for a few seasons now. Pete’s always been ambitious, but as we saw in the season premiere, his ambitions are at an all-time high. When will the time come when Pete uses Don’s real identity to his own advantage? Will that particular cat come out of the bag this season?
8. Pete’s other secret: The other bagged cat that eventually has to come out? Pete fathered a child with Peggy Olson. Trudy still doesn’t know about Pete’s somewhere-out-there illegitimate son, but that’s a secret that can’t possibly be contained forever. Five seasons is a long time to go without bringing that particular pot to a boil. Smart money says that Pete’s big daddy secret comes out before the year’s end.
7. When Joanie met Roger: In other baby drama news, Joan Holloway is the proud mama of Roger Sterling’s baby boy, though that too is a secret; by all other accounts, Joan’s infant son belongs to her military-serving husband Greg. But when that bundle of joy turns into a silver-haired, chain-smoking, womanizing toddler a season or two from now, people are going to put two and two together pretty quickly. Expect this one to be a major plot point throughout season five.
6. Wherefore art thou, Betty?: We understand that January Jones’ emotionally disturbed housewife has been downplayed in recent seasons, what with her divorce from Don, but sitting out of the opening two-hour episode entirely? That was a bit of a shock. What’s up with Betty Francis these days? How are things with her not-so-perfect new husband? Thankfully, this seems like one mystery that’ll get resolved before too long.
5. Wherefore art thou, Delores?: Ah, good old Lane Pryce. You can always count on that fine gentleman to wear his heart on his sleeve. This time, the detail-oriented Lane has set his sights on Delores, a woman he’s only spoken with on the phone and seen in an old photograph. Though that storyline seemed quickly and neatly wrapped up before episode’s end, that far-off look in Lane’s eye is a dead giveaway: He hasn’t given up on meeting this one, not by a long shot. The question isn’t when will they meet, but how super-awkward will their meeting be?
4. New hires: Looking at the business goings-on at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, it appears that a new employee will be hired before much longer, based on the premiere’s end. But in the racially tense 1960s, will the chauvinists and bigots of SCDP be accepting of an African-American co-worker? And what will the new hire, whoever he or she (probably she) may be, bring to the table as a character? We’re certain looking forward to meeting the latest “Mad Men” castmember when (or if) he/she finally shows up.
3. The musical fruit: We’ve already seen Peggy’s attempts at crafting creative, innovative ideas for her clients. But Heinz didn’t bite on Peggy’s elegant bean ballet, eye-fetching as it was. Will we see the better (or worse) idea that Heinz falls in love with, or will Peggy et al lose the client? And if they lose the client, well, it leaves only one question to ask …
2. When will the ship sink?: Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce barely stayed afloat during season four of “Mad Men.” Business has not improved much since then. Depending on how long the bad luck continues, can SCDP really stay open for business? Will Don and the guys have to cut back on their heavy drinking and over-the-top lifestyles to save the company? (God forbid they give their livers and lungs a break for one episode!) If the proverbial ship hits the iceberg, where will Don and the others go? A “Mad Men” without Sterling Cooper in some way, shape or form is a very different “Mad Men” indeed — but perhaps it’s a “Mad Men” we’ll see before season’s end.
1. Zooby zooby zoo: Finally, perhaps the most important lingering mystery of them all: When are we going to hear “Zou Bisou Bisou” again? Because I’m pretty ready for that to be a regular fixture in every “Mad Men” episode from here until eternity.

Curren$y ‘Learned More About The Business’ Dealing With Damon Dash
MC talks to MTV News about working with the former Roc-A-Fella CEO, whom he is reportedly suing for selling his music without permission.

Curren$y and Damon Dash may not see eye to eye, but the Hot Spitter admits that he learned a lot trying to do business with his one-time friend. On Sunday, TMZ reported that Curren$y filed a lawsuit against Dame claiming that the former Roc-A-Fella CEO was selling his music without permission and is now seeking $1.5 million in damages.
During an interview with MTV News last week, the New Orleans MC admitted that he has learned a lot working with Dash, as well as other notable CEOs he was once signed to like Master P and Birdman. “You run the list, I’ve picked up game from all of them, man, Master P, Baby. Me and Wayne made hours and hours and hours and hours’ worth of music in the studio, Dame,” Curren$y told MTV News on March 21. “I been around some people, made moves and soaked it all up.”
In the early 2000s, Curren$y, as a member of the 504 Boyz, was signed to No Limit Records, where he appeared on a number of label releases. “What I got from P was the amount of projects there should always be, something happening from your label to keep you relevant,” he said. “Something should always be poppin’.”
He then inked with Lil Wayne’s Young Money company, developing a unique recording process alongside Weezy, with whom he appeared on several mixtape tracks. “What I got from Cash Money, what I got from being around Wayne so much I guess the studio work,” he said. “We had the same work ethic and that’s how I realized I wasn’t crazy.” Next Curren$y hooked up with Dame Dash’s DD172 label, and together they released Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II in 2010. According to TMZ, while both albums were released through Dash’s label, the two had never reached a concrete agreement. Spitta then went ahead and signed with Warner Bros., where he dropped Weekend at Burnie’s through his own imprint, Jet Life, in 2011.
Now Curren$y is demanding that Dame stop selling his LPs. Dash claims that he is well within his rights and that the rapper did in fact grant him permission, but a judge has yet to rule on the case. Even though the union is now marred in negativity, Curren$y contends that it was a learning experience. “With my last situation, I think I’ve learned more about the business,” he said, referencing Dame’s DD172. “I’ve learned more about the business through that prior situation.”

Felix Cartal is one of the most promising young stars of EDM, a fact that became even clearer at this year’s Miami Music Week, where he played multiple shows days before the release of his latest album.
Cartal’s Different Faces was unleashed on iTunes on Tuesday (March 27) under Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label. Fresh off of his second Ultra Music Festival appearance and the success of his latest single, “Don’t Turn on the Lights,” Cartal told MTV News he’s been eager for the album’s release.
“It’s been the last year of my life kind of putting this thing together,” Cartal said. “The record’s basically all that’s going on in my life. I want people to remember it, and hopefully it means something to them.”
MTV News was able to catch some of Cartal’s set at the National Hotel during Miami Music Week, and it was obvious that “Don’t Turn on the Lights,” featuring Polina, has become a certifiable breakthrough hit. But what was most surprising was how many of Cartal’s fans could be seen singing so many of his songs throughout the set.
“I play all the singles every set, and everyone was singing along today,” Cartal said. “I don’t think you can ever get tired of that feeling.”
He may not have to, because his new album is loaded with potential smashes, already finding tracks trickling into some sets of the biggest DJs in the world. The record will feature some collaborators that EDM fanatics have followed, like Miss Palmer, whom he works with on “Black to White”; Miss Palmer is best known to EDM fans for “No Beef,” one of the biggest tracks of 2011 by Afrojack and Steve Aoki.
Cartal also combined with Sebastien Grainger, from Death From Above 1979, and his contribution on “H.U.N.T.” pushes the album’s boundaries beyond EDM.
“I think that’s what moves music forward, because anytime genres are colliding, I think that’s what helps music become something new,” Cartal said. “I think a lot of people thought that electronic music was just going to be a passing phase, and I kind of compare it to rap music, where it kind of brought a whole culture with it, and I think that’s why it’s lasted and continued to grow.”
Cartal told MTV News his next move will be a two-month tour through May, touring major cities and finishing up at the Sasquatch Festival in Washington. And since he’s part of the Dim Mak family, and because he’s such a nice guy, we asked if he even had it in him to cake someone, à la Steve Aoki.
“I’ve got it in me to cake someone,” Cartal said. “It’ll happen eventually — at one of Steve’s shows, though. I don’t want to bite on his thing.”

The latest version of the song is available for purchase and is all over blogs like <a href="http://www.rap-up.com/2011/12/12/new-music-kesha-f-wiz-khalifa-andre-3000-ti-lil-wayne-sleazy-remix/" target="_blank">Rap-Up.com</a>. The song gets a bit dirtier and introspective thanks to verses from the guys that play up the track's bumping beat. </P><P> </P><P>Wiz kicks it off, rapping about designer clothes and his lady love, Amber Rose. "OK, I'm young and I'm tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it," he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom. </P><P> </P><P>Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre's recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, "Do you know what to do with me?" before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. "Bad bitches know me/ So don't bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds," he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy. </P><P> </P><P>Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. "We be on that sh– that no one be on/ That's what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans," he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn't "need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don't need love lookin' like diamonds/ Lookin' like diamonds." </P><P> </P><P>If any of K's fans or critics were wondering if she has the swagger to chill with the guys, she displayed some of her sass when she <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/KESHASUXX" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about the remix. ‘Hunger Games’ Star Liam Hemsworth: What’s Next?
Two films with Dwayne Johnson, a Vietnam War romance and ‘The Expendables 2′ are in the Aussie actor’s future.

With “The Hunger Games” slaughtering its competition at the box office this past weekend, everyone’s eyes are locked on the movie’s three main stars to see what’s next. For those of you who loved Liam Hemsworth‘s short but sweet scenes as Katniss Everdeen’s best friend, Gale, you’re in luck.
While we’re sure the Aussie actor is enjoying the benefits of working hard on the film, he’s not sitting around waiting to film the sequel. He has quite a few other films in the works. Here’s a list of what to look forward to from the youngest Hemsworth brother.
First on the list is his role as Bill “the Kid” Timmons, the newest addition to Sylvester Stallone’s team, in “The Expendables 2.” Mr. Church, played by Bruce Willis, enlists the Expendables for a job that seems like an easy paycheck. But when a member of the crew is brutally murdered, the Expendables seek revenge and find themselves on enemy turf with an unexpected threat looming over their heads. Also returning to the movie are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Yu Nan joins Hemsworth as another of the team’s newcomers in the film, which is set to release on August 17.
After watching Hemsworth battle it out in that action flick, you can catch him in a different type of warring film titled “AWOL.” Based on a true story, the film follows a young Vietnam soldier who returns home to the States in search of his newly ex-girlfriend. Austin Stowell plays the broken-hearted soldier, Joiner, and Aimee Teegarden plays Juniper, his high school sweetheart. Hemsworth stars as Joiner’s best friend, Wright, who accompanies him on the risky journey. The backdrop of the film, which will be released later this year, is the anti-war movement at the University of Michigan.
Josh Hutcherson isn’t the only ‘Hunger Games’ actor who may be working with Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson. Next year, Hemsworth will star alongside the wrestler-turned-actor in “Empire State.” Also based on a true story, the movie follows a plan set in motion by two childhood friends (one of whom will be played by Hemsworth) to rob an armored car depository. Johnson plays a NYPD officer who attempts to stop the cash heist, and Emma Roberts joins the cast as a waitress who takes interest in Hemsworth’s character.
Then, in 2014, Johnson and Hemsworth will reunite for “Arabian Nights.” The tale weaves together some of our favorite adventures as a young commander named Ali Baba (Hemsworth) teams up with Sinbad (Johnson), Aladdin and Aladdin’s genie in order to rescue Scheherazade and her kingdom from the dark forces of a sorcerer.
And, of course, you will see Hemsworth reprise his role as Gale Hawthorne in the November 22, 2013 release of “Catching Fire.” Gale will be in the picture more often this time around, and we’re excited to see how Hemsworth develops the character.

Sugarland Stage Collapse Rears Its Head Again
A sad story is getting sadder. The band Sugarland had a horrific accident occur at one of their shows, which caused the death of four fans and a number of other injuries. Now it appears that the lead singer may have to appear in court as part of an ongoing lawsuit. It has taken about a year for this story to come back around. Last year, the video of a massive outdoor stage rig tipping, then collapsing on top of fans went viral. The clip showed the huge metal rig slamming down onto a swarm of fans. The band was completely shocked and has been trying to keep going even in the face of such an awful tragedy. According to reports that hit today, lead singer Jennifer Nettles may have to actually testify in court as part of the ongoing litigation. The lawsuit was filed by a group of survivors and even the families of the victims who claim that Sugarland had the ultimate say in whether or not the show would go on despite bad weather.
